The AN-EMFA electromagnetic open channel flowmeter is an intelligent electromagnetic instrument that directly measures the average flow velocity of the cross-section. It delivers reliable flow measurement solutions for various harsh working conditions, and is applicable to both regular and irregular channels. This product is widely used for flow detection in rectangular and trapezoidal open channels, culverts of reservoirs, rivers, water conservancy projects, urban water supply, sewage treatment, farmland irrigation and water resource management. | |
Working Principle | |
A local excitation system is arranged beside the fluid to generate a vertical magnetic field. When water flows and cuts the magnetic field, an electric potential difference is produced. This potential difference reflects the overall electric potential of all fluid particles on the cross-section, so the measured value is the average flow velocity. The instantaneous flow rate is calculated by multiplying the average velocity by the cross-sectional area of the channel. Since the cross-sectional area is determined by water level, the meter works with radar or ultrasonic level gauges to acquire water depth data for complete flow calculation.
